Mast wood
Oregon Pine has a rich history as mastwood. In the past, it was widely used for decks because of its straight-grained structure and minimal knots. Oregon Pine is known for its long and straight-grained “rift sawn” sections. Thanks to their good durability, these deck parts could be laid directly on the trusses without treatment. The intermediate seams were caulked. Today, this beautiful type of wood is still frequently used for sailing ship masts because of its excellent strength.
With our many years of expertise in the field of (international) yacht building, we at Boogaerdt Hout specialize in Oregon Pine.
