On July 11, 2024 Arie Plomp appointed master roundwood sawyer at Boogaerdt Hout.
In his 50-year career as a roundwood sawyer, Arie has sawn more than 100,000 m3 (!) of Azobé / Bilinga logs to cutlery. An achievement that few people will be able to match. In addition, in those 50 years he has sawn another 15,000 m3 of logs in other types of wood to customer-specific sizes.
Sawing round timber is a specialism. Great craftsmanship is required to realize customer-specific wishes, taking into account the correct yield and quality requirements.
Since the beginning of this year, Boogaerdt Hout has no longer imported FSC® logs from West Africa due to amended regulations. A new product line has been set up in collaboration with the local producer. The logs are now sawn in West Africa and shipped to the Netherlands as semi-finished products. These so-called Azobe FSC®-certified panels are sawn to customer-specific sizes in the roundwood sawmill of Boogaerdt Hout.
